So by now you all know that I’m trying to be healthy, lose weight and I’m always looking for healthy foods and workout programs that I can manage to squeeze into my schedule. Occasionally, an article will grab my attention and I will read it and if its interesting enough to me – well then I share J
I found this article on iVillage and it caught my eye because I definitely need help focusing and it involved food….LOL. So, they suggested the following 10 foods to help you focus:
Chocolate: All you need is a square or two of dark chocolate can help with memory, thinking and judgement.
Cauliflower: this I need to learn how to cook, but it helps with increasing energy and electrical activity in the area of the brain that controls decision making and focusing.
Chili Peppers: Hmmm, I’m not sure about this one because I don’t like spicy foods, but it can improve learning and memory.
Sunflower seeds: these little seeds are packed with brain boosting power and you can have them as a snack or add them to your salad
Sweet potatoes: this potato is loaded with radical-fighting antioxidants – I think this is awesome being that I love sweet potatoes J
Cantaloupe: another fruit I’ve grown to love, and it is loaded with vitamin C and Beta-carotene! They say the Vitamin C prevents brain cells from premature breakdown.
Rice bran: contains magnesium and magnesium helps with learning and memory skills – I definitely need more of this.
Beet juice: this doesn’t sound tasty, but it could help with blood flow to the brain-which is always a good thing.
Breakfast cereal: Here they are referring to “fortified” cereal and you need to look for the words “B12” or “cobalamine”. This vitamin helps you pay attention and improves memory – more things I really need.
Yogurt: eating 1 a day has been shown to boost brain function – suggesting a link between good digestion and good brain function……LOL
Hey – I don’t always believe what I read-even if it is coming from “professionals”, but it doesn’t hurt to add all the foods above to your diet. I know I’ll be adding the in here and there – although the beet juice may be a problem for me!
